The Bureau for Intellectual Property Sint Maarten (BIP SXM), in collaboration with the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy of the Netherlands (Ministry EAC-NL) and the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP), hosted a workshop for IP professionals of the Dutch Kingdom on Sint Maarten.
This workshop concluded the IP awareness campaign launched by the Ministry EAC-NL and BOIP, which began in Bonaire early March, followed by a short stop in St. Eustatius.
Most of the IP professionals based in Sint Maarten, attended the workshop and were actively engaged which generated an enthusiastic dialogue between all parties present.
Mrs. Vincentia Rosen-Sandiford, Director of BIP SXM, held a presentation on Intellectual Property Strategies and local legislation, while Mr. Camille Janssen, lawyer and spokesperson for BOIP, presented on IP and recent case law within the Dutch Kingdom, as well as the Madrid Protocol (for the international trademark applications). Ms. Saskia Jurna, Policy Advisor at the Ministry of EAC-NL, focused on the recent IP developments in the European Union, as well as Patents.
The Director of BIP SXM would like to thank both Ms. Jurna and Mr. Janssen for their outstanding collaboration in this workshop.
Last and certainly not least, the Bureau would like to thank the IP professionals on Sint Maarten for joining us and making this workshop a success. We look forward to continuing our fruitful working relationship and together raising the IP awareness on Sint Maarten and throughout the region.
