“The Unreal Campaign is INTA’s public awareness initiative designed to educate teenagers (ages 14-18) about the importance of trademarks, intellectual property, and dangers of counterfeit products. The Campaign has successfully reached nearly 40,000 students directly since its launch in 2012.”

 

As of December 2018, new Supervisory Board members for the Bureau for Intellectual Property Sint Maarten (the Bureau) have been appointed by the Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunication (Minister of TEATT). The (new) Board members are Mrs. Glennis Vlaun, Dr. Rhoda Arrindell and Ms. Sophia Brown. Mrs. Glennis Vlaun has been re-appointed by the Minister of TEATT and in the first member meeting she was selected by her peers as chairperson of the Supervisory Board.

In the week of November 5th, 2018, two team members of the Bureau for Intellectual Property Sint Maarten (BIP SXM) attended the Leadership Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA) in New Orleans. BIP SXM has been a member of INTA since 2016.

     

On Saturday, November 3rd, 2018 the Director of the Bureau for Intellectual Property Sint Maarten (BIP SXM) attended the 4th Annual General Meeting of the Intellectual Property Caribbean Association (IPCA) in Miami. BIP SXM has been a member of IPCA since 2017.


On Tuesday, October 16th, 2018 the Bureau for Intellectual Property Sint Maarten officially presented the 2017 financial statement to the Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Traffic and Telecommunication (Minister of TEATT). This is the fourth financial statement submitted by the Bureau for approval by the Minister of TEATT since its formal establishment.

The Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport and Telecommunication (TEATT) Stuart Johnson, follows up with the Bureau for Intellectual Property (the Bureau or BIP SXM) on August 15th, as a follow-up to an earlier introductory meeting held on July 30th with the Supervisory Board and Director of BIP SXM.
 
The Minister of TEATT along with his advisers held a meeting at the Bureau with the Director.
