The Bureau for Intellectual Property Sint Maarten (the Bureau), Supervisory Board members and Director met with the Honorable Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunication (Minister of TEATT), Mr. Stuart Johnson to present the Financial Statement 2018. The 2018 theme for the Financial Statement is ‘Recovery and New beginnings’.
The International Trademark Association (INTA) is a global association of brand owners and professionals dedicated to supporting trademarks and related intellectual property (IP) to foster consumer trust, economic growth, and innovation.”
The Bureau for Intellectual Property (BIP SXM) partnered with the PWR Agency whom hosted the IMPACT 2019 workshop, on July 20th, 2019. The collaborating organizations were NPower, the Sint Maarten Development Fund (SMDF) and the Anguilla Youth Business Foundation and 4C Foundation.
“The Unreal Campaign is INTA’s public awareness initiative designed to educate teenagers (ages 14-18) about the importance of trademarks, intellectual property, and dangers of counterfeit products. The Campaign has successfully reached nearly 40,000 students directly since its launch in 2012.”
As of December 2018, new Supervisory Board members for the Bureau for Intellectual Property Sint Maarten (the Bureau) have been appointed by the Minister of Tourism, Economic Affairs, Transport & Telecommunication (Minister of TEATT). The (new) Board members are Mrs. Glennis Vlaun, Dr. Rhoda Arrindell and Ms. Sophia Brown. Mrs. Glennis Vlaun has been re-appointed by the Minister of TEATT and in the first member meeting she was selected by her peers as chairperson of the Supervisory Board.
In the week of November 5th, 2018, two team members of the Bureau for Intellectual Property Sint Maarten (BIP SXM) attended the Leadership Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA) in New Orleans. BIP SXM has been a member of INTA since 2016.
